Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Wontons:

  • 1/2 pound ground pork (or chicken)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 2025 wonton wrappers

For the Soup:

  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup bok choy or spinach (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Make the Wonton Filling: In a bowl, mix ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, green onions, salt, and white pepper until well combined.
  • Fill the Wontons: Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold in half to form a triangle, and press to seal. Bring the two corners together and pinch.
  • Prepare the Soup: In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a simmer. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger.
  • Cook the Wontons: Gently drop the wontons into the simmering broth and cook for 5–7 minutes, or until they float to the top.
  • Add Greens (Optional): Stir in bok choy or spinach and cook for another 1–2 minutes.
  • Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with chopped green onions and serve hot.

Notes

  • Wontons can be made ahead and frozen for quick meals.
  • Add mushrooms or shrimp for extra flavor.
