- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the dish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly butter a white ceramic baking dish.
- In a saucepan, heat the cream with minced garlic and herbs over low heat until warmed. Do not boil.
- Layer the sweet potato slices in the baking dish, slightly overlapping. Season each layer with salt, pepper, and a sprinkle of cheese.
- Pour the warm cream mixture evenly over the layered sweet potatoes.
- Top with the remaining cheese and a few herb sprigs.
- Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let the gratin rest for 10 minutes before serving.
