- 2 ripe plantains (yellow with black spots)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Peel plantains and slice diagonally into ½-inch thick slices.
- Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add plantain slices to skillet in a single layer. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and caramelized.
- If using brown sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over plantains during the last minute of cooking, gently tossing to coat evenly.
- Remove from skillet, sprinkle with a pinch of salt, and drain excess oil on paper towels if needed.
- Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- Use ripe plantains with plenty of dark spots for the sweetest result.
- Butter gives a richer flavor, while oil makes them crispier.
- Serve with ice cream or whipped cream for a sweet dessert.
