Description

These Swedish meatballs over creamy mashed potatoes, smothered in savory gravy, are the ultimate comfort food classic made simple and delicious at home.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1/2 lb ground pork

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 tsp allspice

 

  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine beef, pork, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, allspice, salt, and pepper. Mix and form into small meatballs.

  • Sear meatballs in a skillet until browned and cooked through. Set aside.

  • In the same skillet, melt butter, whisk in flour and cook 1–2 minutes.

  • Slowly add broth and cream, whisking until smooth. Simmer to thicken.

  • Add meatballs to gravy and cook for 5 more minutes.

 

  • Serve hot over mashed potatoes, garnish with parsley.


Notes

Substitute with ground turkey for a lighter version.
