Description

This strawberry shortcake layer cake is a show-stopping dessert made with fluffy vanilla sponge, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream. A perfect treat for birthdays, summer picnics, or any special occasion!


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
  • In a bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
  • Mix in flour and baking powder, alternating with milk, until combined.
  • Pour batter evenly into the cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Let cakes cool completely before assembling.
  • Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  • Place one cake layer on a stand, spread whipped cream, and add sliced strawberries.
  • Place the second layer on top and repeat with more cream and strawberries.
  • Garnish with whole strawberries and serve.

Notes

  • Let the cakes cool completely before assembling to avoid melting the cream.
