- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 tablespoon honey or apricot jam (for glaze)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and transfer to the baking sheet. Score a 1/2-inch border around the edges without cutting through.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture inside the scored border of the pastry.
- Arrange sliced strawberries over the cream cheese filling.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- While the tart is still warm, brush the strawberries with warmed honey or apricot jam to glaze.
- Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar if desired. Slice and serve.
