Description
Steak Crostini with Cream Sauce is an elegant appetizer featuring tender slices of seared steak atop toasted baguette slices, finished with a rich, savory cream sauce — perfect for parties or special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 8 oz steak (such as sirloin or filet mignon), seasoned with salt and pepper
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional garnish: chopped parsley or chives
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush baguette slices with olive oil and place on a baking sheet. Toast for 8–10 minutes until golden and crisp.
- While crostini are toasting, heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steak for 3–4 minutes per side (for medium-rare) or to desired doneness. Let rest 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic for 1 minute. Add cream and Dijon mustard; simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese and cook until melted and slightly thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- To assemble, place a slice of steak on each crostini and spoon cream sauce over the top.
- Garnish with chopped herbs if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use a high-quality cut of steak for the most tender texture.
- Crostini can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container.
- The cream sauce can be flavored with a splash of white wine or horseradish for variation.
- Great as an appetizer or part of a charcuterie-style spread.
