- 400g beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked rice for serving
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, chili garlic sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sugar to make the stir-fry sauce. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add beef and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Add remaining oil to the pan. Stir-fry garlic and ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add bell pepper and onion. Cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender.
- Return the beef to the pan, pour in the sauce, and toss everything together until well coated and heated through.
- Add green onions and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir for another minute.
- Serve hot over steamed rice.
Notes
- Use thinly sliced beef for quick cooking and tenderness.
- Adjust the amount of chili garlic sauce and red pepper flakes to your spice preference.
- Can substitute beef with chicken or tofu for variation.
- Goes well with jasmine or brown rice, or noodles.
