Description

Spicy Beef and Cheese Burritos are hearty, flavorful wraps filled with seasoned ground beef, spicy cheese sauce, and your favorite toppings—all rolled into soft flour tortillas and perfect for a quick, satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning or 1 tsp each cumin, chili powder, paprika, and cayenne
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste or 1/4 cup salsa
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 4 oz cream cheese or 1 cup nacho cheese sauce
  • 12 tbsp sliced jalapeños or chili flakes (optional)
  • 6 large flour tortillas
  • Chopped fresh cilantro (for garnish)
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, hot sauce, lettuce, diced tomatoes

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until browned. Drain excess fat and stir in garlic.
  2. Add taco seasoning, tomato paste or salsa, and a splash of water. Stir and simmer for 5–10 minutes until thickened.
  3. In a separate pan, melt cream cheese and shredded cheddar together until smooth and creamy, or warm nacho cheese sauce.
  4. Warm flour tortillas in a skillet or microwave until soft and pliable.
  5. Assemble the burritos: add beef mixture to each tortilla, top with cheese sauce, jalapeños, and desired toppings.
  6. Fold in the sides and roll tightly. Toast seam-side down in a skillet until golden and crispy, flipping once.
  7. Slice in half, garnish with chopped cilantro, and serve warm with salsa or sour cream.

Notes

  • Let filling cool slightly before assembling to prevent soggy burritos.
  • Freeze assembled burritos individually for future meals.
  • Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
  • Add veggies like bell peppers or corn for extra nutrition.
  • To bake instead of pan-fry, brush with oil and bake at 400°F until golden.
