Description

Skillet chicken Alfredo pasta is a creamy, comforting one-pan dish featuring tender chicken, pasta, and a rich Parmesan Alfredo sauce. It’s quick to prepare and perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces pasta (penne, fettuccine, or your choice)
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup broccoli florets or spinach (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season sliced chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook chicken until browned and cooked through, about 5–7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add uncooked pasta, chicken broth, and heavy cream. Stir and bring to a gentle boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and sauce has thickened.
  6. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
  7. Return chicken to the skillet and stir to combine. Add steamed broccoli or spinach if using.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Substitute shrimp or sausage for chicken for a variation.
  • Add sun-dried tomatoes or mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • Use milk and a tablespoon of flour for a lighter sauce.
  • Add a splash of milk or broth when reheating to keep the sauce smooth.
  • Best enjoyed fresh; not ideal for freezing due to cream content.
