- 2 lbs beef stew meat or sirloin tips
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 3 cups cooked white rice
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Add beef tips and sear until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté onions until softened, then add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Return beef to the pan and add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours until beef is tender.
- Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl to create a slurry.
- Stir the slurry into the beef and gravy mixture, and cook for another 5–10 minutes until the gravy thickens.
- Serve hot over cooked white rice.
Notes
- Use sirloin or chuck roast for more tender results.
- Slow cooking helps tenderize tougher cuts of meat.
- Can be served with mashed potatoes or egg noodles instead of rice.
