Description

Tender beef tips simmered in a savory brown gravy and served over fluffy rice for a hearty, comforting meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 lbs beef stew meat or sirloin tips
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 3 cups cooked white rice

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Add beef tips and sear until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté onions until softened, then add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  4. Return beef to the pan and add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours until beef is tender.
  6. Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl to create a slurry.
  7. Stir the slurry into the beef and gravy mixture, and cook for another 5–10 minutes until the gravy thickens.
  8. Serve hot over cooked white rice.

Notes

  • Use sirloin or chuck roast for more tender results.
  • Slow cooking helps tenderize tougher cuts of meat.
  • Can be served with mashed potatoes or egg noodles instead of rice.
