Scale
- 1 lb sausage links (pork, turkey, or chicken), sliced into rounds
- 1 small green cabbage, sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage slices and brown on both sides. Remove and set aside.
- Add remaining oil to the skillet if needed. Sauté onion and garlic until softened and fragrant, about 3–4 minutes.
- Add sliced cabbage to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized.
- In a small bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and honey. Pour over the cabbage and stir to combine.
- Return sausage to the skillet and toss with cabbage. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until heated through and coated in glaze.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- Use spicy sausage like chorizo for extra heat.
- Add thinly sliced apples for sweetness and depth.
- Make it vegan with plant-based sausage and maple syrup.
- Use a cabbage mix for added texture and color.
- Simmer glaze slightly longer to thicken before combining with sausage.
