- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup caramel sauce or soft caramel candies, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper or grease lightly.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and combined.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Fold in chocolate chips evenly.
- Press half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Pour the melted caramel evenly over the dough layer.
- Dollop and gently spread the remaining dough on top of the caramel layer.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the top is golden and set.
- Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top while warm. Cool completely before slicing into bars.
