Description

A delicious twist on the classic meatloaf, combining the savory flavors of a Philly cheesesteak with melty provolone cheese.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, minced
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 8 oz provolone cheese slices

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Heat to 375°F (190°C). Spray a 9×5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
  • Prepare Vegetables: Sauté onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, salt, and pepper in butter over medium heat until tender. Cool for 5 minutes.
  • Mix Meatloaf: In a large bowl, combine ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, eggs, ground beef, sautéed vegetables, and breadcrumbs. Mix thoroughly.
  • Assemble Meatloaf: Press half the meat mixture into the pan, layer with provolone slices, and top with the remaining meat.
  • Bake: Bake for 40 minutes. Add provolone slices on top and bake another 15–20 minutes until melted and bubbly.
  • Serve: Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Substitute provolone with mozzarella for a different twist.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
