Ingredients
Scale
For the Wings:
- 2 lbs chicken wings, split into drumettes and flats
- 1 tbsp baking powder (for extra crispiness, aluminum-free preferred)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Optional Sauces for Tossing or Serving:
- Buffalo sauce
- BBQ sauce
- Honey garlic sauce
- Ranch or blue cheese dressing (for dipping)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Spray the rack lightly with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Prepare the Wings:
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture (this helps them crisp up).
- Season the Wings:
- In a large bowl, toss the wings with baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder (if using), salt, and black pepper. Ensure the wings are evenly coated.
- Arrange on the Rack:
- Place the seasoned wings in a single layer on the prepared rack. Make sure they’re not touching to allow for even airflow and crispiness.
- Bake the Wings:
- Bake the wings for 20 minutes, then flip them over and bake for another 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Toss in Sauce (Optional):
- If desired, toss the hot wings in your favorite sauce, such as buffalo, BBQ, or honey garlic. Alternatively, serve the sauces on the side for dipping.
- Serve:
- Transfer the wings to a platter, garnish with chopped parsley or green onions if desired, and serve with celery sticks, carrot sticks, and your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Extra Crispiness: For maximum crispiness, dry the wings thoroughly and use aluminum-free baking powder.
- Reheating: To reheat leftover wings, bake them at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes until warmed and crispy.
- Air Fryer Option: Cook the wings in an air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
