Units
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 8 oz mushrooms (cremini or white button), sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- Mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, or preferred condiments
- Lettuce, tomato, onions (optional toppings)
Instructions
- Shape the ground beef into 4 equal patties and season both sides with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté for 8–10 minutes until browned and tender. Add garlic and Worcestershire sauce (if using), cook for another minute, then remove from heat.
- Grill or pan-fry the burger patties over medium-high heat for 4–5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
- During the final minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of Swiss cheese and cover the pan or grill to melt the cheese.
- Lightly toast the hamburger buns.
- Assemble each burger: spread condiments on the bottom bun, place the cheesy beef patty, top with sautéed mushrooms, and add lettuce, tomato, or onions as desired. Close with the top bun.
- Serve warm with your favorite side.
Notes
- Use 80/20 ground beef for juicier patties.
- Grill mushrooms in foil for a smoky flavor alternative.
- Swiss cheese can be swapped with gouda or provolone.
- Add bacon or caramelized onions for extra layers of flavor.
- Prepare mushrooms and patties ahead for quicker assembly.
