Description

Mushroom and Cheese toast is a rustic yet refined dish combining sautéed mushrooms and melty cheese on toasted bread. Ideal for breakfast, brunch, or appetizers, it’s full of savory flavor and comforting texture.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh mushrooms (cremini, button, or shiitake), sliced
  • 46 slices of rustic bread (baguette, sourdough, or similar)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Gruyère cheese
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme or parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Clean and slice the mushrooms.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil or butter. Add garlic and mushrooms and sauté for 6–8 minutes until golden and soft.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and fresh herbs.
  5. Lightly toast the bread slices in the oven or on a skillet until firm.
  6. Top each toast with sautéed mushrooms and a generous amount of shredded cheese.
  7. Bake for 5–7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with additional herbs if desired and serve warm.
