Scale
- 12 mozzarella sticks or string cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Vegetable oil, for frying
For Serving:
- Marinara sauce or ranch dressing
Instructions
- Prepare the Mozzarella Sticks:
- Cut each mozzarella stick in half (optional for shorter pieces). Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 1 hour to prevent them from melting during frying.
- Set Up Breading Station:
- In one bowl, place the flour.
- In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
- In a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Coat the Mozzarella:
- Roll each frozen mozzarella stick in flour, dip in the beaten eggs, and coat in the breadcrumb mixture. For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating to create a double layer. Return coated sticks to the freezer for 15-20 minutes.
- Heat the Oil:
- In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the Mozzarella Sticks:
- Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches, 2-3 minutes per batch, until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve Immediately:
- Serve hot with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
Notes
- For a healthier option, bake the mozzarella sticks at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes or air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 6-8 minutes.
- Make sure the mozzarella sticks are frozen solid before frying to prevent them from oozing out.
- Use seasoned Italian breadcrumbs for added flavor, or mix regular breadcrumbs with dried herbs.
