- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups marinara or pasta sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, cream cheese, sour cream, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
- In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer noodles, meat sauce, cheese mixture, and shredded mozzarella. Repeat layers, ending with meat sauce and mozzarella on top. Sprinkle with parmesan.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley or basil if desired.

- Use cottage cheese instead of ricotta for a different texture.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
