Description

Middle Eastern Beef Kofta Meatballs are spiced ground beef meatballs blended with herbs and warm spices, then grilled, baked, or pan-fried to juicy perfection. They’re ideal served with pita, salad, and yogurt or tahini sauce.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking or brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, grated onion, garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, allspice, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  3. Shape into small oval or round meatballs.
  4. Preheat grill or oven (400°F/200°C) or heat oil in a skillet.
  5. Cook the meatballs for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
  6. Serve with pita bread, salad, and yogurt or tahini sauce.

Notes

  • Use ground lamb for a more traditional flavor.
  • Add mint or cilantro for additional freshness.
  • Chill the mixture before shaping to help it hold together better.
  • Serve kofta as part of a mezze platter with dips and sides.
  • Use skewers to shape kofta kebabs for grilling.
