Description

Mama’s Classic Meatloaf is a comforting, homestyle dinner made with seasoned ground beef, breadcrumbs, and a tangy-sweet ketchup glaze. It’s moist, flavorful, and a nostalgic favorite perfect for family meals.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix just until combined—do not overmix.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf shape on the baking sheet or press into a loaf pan.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, brown sugar, and vinegar. Spread half over the meatloaf.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes, then remove and spread the remaining glaze on top.
  6. Return to oven and bake for another 15 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use a mix of ground beef and pork for extra flavor and tenderness.
  • Leftovers make excellent meatloaf sandwiches.
  • Let the meatloaf rest to keep it juicy when slicing.
