The Luscious Cherry Cheese Danish is a golden, flaky puff pastry filled with sweetened cream cheese and topped with cherry filling. It’s a bakery-style treat perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

- 1 package puff pastry sheets (2 sheets, thawed)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 cup cherry pie filling or cherry preserves
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for optional glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unfold puff pastry and cut into 8 squares or desired shapes.
- In a bowl, beat cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg yolk until smooth.
- Place a tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
- Top with a small spoonful of cherry pie filling.
- Fold or shape the edges of the pastry, keeping the center exposed.
- Brush pastry edges with beaten egg.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, until puffed and golden.
- Cool slightly and drizzle with glaze made by mixing powdered sugar and milk, if desired.
Notes
- Don’t overfill to prevent leaking during baking.
- Add almond extract for a cherry-almond twist.
- Best served warm or at room temperature.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven.
- Freeze unbaked Danishes and bake straight from frozen with added time.
