Description

A colorful and flavorful layered dip featuring seasoned ground beef, creamy refried beans, melted cheese, fresh avocado, and zesty toppings—perfect for gatherings and game days.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
  • 1 can (16 oz) refried beans
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 12 ripe avocados, diced
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Optional: jalapeño slices, chopped red onion, lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
  2. Stir in taco seasoning with ¼ cup water. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until well coated and liquid absorbed. Remove from heat.
  3. Spread refried beans evenly on the bottom of a large serving bowl or shallow dish.
  4. Layer seasoned beef over the beans.
  5. Spread sour cream across the beef layer.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the sour cream.
  7. Arrange diced avocado and tomatoes in neat rows or random clusters.
  8. Distribute sliced olives, green onions, and cilantro on top. Add optional jalapeño slices if you like extra heat.
  9. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, crackers, or sliced veggies.

Notes

  • Swap beef for ground turkey, chicken, or a vegetarian option like black beans.
  • Toss avocado in lime juice to prevent browning if prepping ahead.
  • Customize with different toppings like pico de gallo, corn salsa, or crema.
  • Make individual servings in jars or cups for parties.
  • Use Greek yogurt as a lighter alternative to sour cream.
