Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter (for gravy)
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for gravy)
- 2 cups chicken or turkey broth (for gravy)
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (for gravy)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (for gravy)
- Salt to taste (for gravy)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined—do not overmix.
- Form the mixture into 4 evenly sized patties.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 5–6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp should reach 165°F).
- Remove patties and set aside. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
- Slowly whisk in broth, stirring constantly until smooth and thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Season gravy with onion powder, pepper, and salt to taste.
- Return turkey patties to skillet and spoon gravy over them. Simmer for a few minutes until heated through. Serve warm.
Notes
- Use lean ground turkey for a healthier option, but not too lean (85-93%) to retain juiciness.
- For extra depth, sauté mushrooms in the skillet before making the gravy.
- Pairs well with mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.
