Description

Honey garlic glazed chicken is a sweet, savory, and sticky chicken dish featuring juicy, pan-seared chicken coated in a rich honey garlic sauce. Perfect for serving over rice, noodles, or with steamed vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for extra crispiness)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon water + 1 teaspoon cornstarch (for slurry, optional)
  • Sliced green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Lightly dust with cornstarch if using.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook 5–6 minutes per side, or until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and ginger (if using). Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  5. If a thicker sauce is desired, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl, then stir into the sauce. Simmer another 1–2 minutes until thickened.
  6. Return chicken to the skillet and spoon sauce over the top. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, basting with sauce.
  7. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Thighs offer more flavor and remain juicy, but breasts work well too.
  • For extra crispiness, sear chicken in a cast iron skillet or pan-fry with cornstarch coating.
  • Add steamed broccoli or snap peas for a complete meal.
  • Sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 1 week.
