Homemade Sausage and Red Onion Pizza is a flavorful, rustic pizza topped with savory Italian sausage, sweet red onions, and melty cheese on a crisp, golden crust—perfect for homemade pizza night.


Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup tomato or pizza sauce
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage, crumbled and cooked
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning or dried oregano
  • Cornmeal or flour, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 475°F and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to preheat.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll or stretch pizza dough into your preferred shape. Transfer to parchment paper dusted with cornmeal.
  3. Brush dough with olive oil. Spread sauce evenly over dough.
  4. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Add cooked sausage and red onion slices.
  5. Top with Parmesan cheese (if using) and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning.
  6. Transfer pizza (with parchment) onto the hot stone or baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  7. Remove from oven, let rest 5 minutes, then slice and serve warm.
