For the Dough:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
For the Filling:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add melted butter, egg, flour, and salt. Knead until a soft dough forms. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Make the Filling: Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Shape the Twists: Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread the filling evenly over half of the dough, then fold the other half over. Cut into strips and twist each strip. Place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Make the Glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over warm twists.
