Description

Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Rounds are flaky, golden-brown spirals filled with savory ham and melty cheese, making them a perfect bite-sized appetizer or snack that’s quick to prepare and crowd-pleasing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 68 slices deli ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or gruyère)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp fresh herbs, chopped (optional, such as chives or parsley)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to smooth folds.
  3. Optional: Lightly spread Dijon mustard over the pastry.
  4. Layer ham evenly across the pastry, then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  5. Roll the pastry tightly from the long edge into a log. Chill for 10 minutes if needed for cleaner slicing.
  6. Slice into ½-inch rounds using a sharp knife and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Beat the egg and brush the tops of the rounds for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 15–18 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly, sprinkle with fresh herbs if using, and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Chilling the rolled log makes slicing easier and neater.
  • Swap Dijon for pesto or mayo for different flavor profiles.
  • Use parchment paper for easy cleanup and crisp bottoms.
  • Freeze unbaked slices flat on a tray and bake from frozen.
  • Serve with honey mustard or spicy mayo for dipping.
