Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Rounds are flaky, golden-brown spirals filled with savory ham and melty cheese, making them a perfect bite-sized appetizer or snack that’s quick to prepare and crowd-pleasing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 6–8 slices deli ham
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or gruyère)
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp fresh herbs, chopped (optional, such as chives or parsley)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to smooth folds.
- Optional: Lightly spread Dijon mustard over the pastry.
- Layer ham evenly across the pastry, then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Roll the pastry tightly from the long edge into a log. Chill for 10 minutes if needed for cleaner slicing.
- Slice into ½-inch rounds using a sharp knife and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Beat the egg and brush the tops of the rounds for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool slightly, sprinkle with fresh herbs if using, and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Chilling the rolled log makes slicing easier and neater.
- Swap Dijon for pesto or mayo for different flavor profiles.
- Use parchment paper for easy cleanup and crisp bottoms.
- Freeze unbaked slices flat on a tray and bake from frozen.
- Serve with honey mustard or spicy mayo for dipping.
