Description

Grilled Sausage and Cheddar is a simple, hearty dish featuring smoky grilled sausages topped with gooey, melted cheddar cheese. It’s perfect for quick meals, casual gatherings, or backyard barbecues.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 sausages (bratwurst, smoked, kielbasa, or Italian)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for brushing)
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese (or 1 cup shredded)
  • 4 bread rolls or buns (optional)
  • Mustard, pickles, or sautéed onions (optional toppings)

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Lightly brush sausages with olive oil if desired.
  3. Grill sausages, turning occasionally, for 10–12 minutes or until browned and cooked through (160°F internal temperature for pork).
  4. In the last 2 minutes of grilling, top each sausage with cheddar cheese and close the lid to melt.
  5. Serve hot on a platter or in toasted buns with optional toppings like mustard, pickles, or sautéed onions.

Notes

  • Use jalapeño cheddar for extra spice.
  • Try different cheese and sausage combinations like smoked gouda and chicken sausage.
  • Serve on a cutting board with mustard and pretzels for a rustic appetizer presentation.
  • Grill buns for added flavor and texture.
