For the Chicken Marinade:
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into strips
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Tzatziki Sauce:
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber, grated and drained
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill or parsley, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Pitas:
- 4 pita breads, warmed
- 1 small red onion, sliced
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1/2 cup chopped lettuce (optional)
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add chicken strips, mix well, and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare the tzatziki sauce: Mix Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, dill, and salt in a bowl. Chill for 15 minutes.
- Cook the chicken: Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked.
- Assemble the pitas: Open each warmed pita and spread tzatziki sauce inside. Add grilled chicken, red onions, tomatoes, and lettuce.
