Description

Ingredients
- Water
- Unsalted butter
- Salt
- All-purpose flour
- Eggs
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Classic glaze:
- Powdered sugar
- Milk
- Vanilla extract
- Chocolate glaze:
- Semi-sweet chocolate
- Heavy cream
Instructions
- In a saucepan, bring water, butter, and salt to a boil. Remove from heat, stir in flour, and mix until dough forms. Return to low heat for a minute or two, stirring constantly. Let cool slightly.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time, until dough is smooth and glossy.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Pipe dough strips into the oil, snipping with scissors. Fry until golden brown, turning once.
- Drain on paper towels. Dip warm churros in glaze or drizzle glaze over top.
Notes
- For a cinnamon-sugar variation, roll warm churros in cinnamon sugar instead of glazing.
- Try caramel or white chocolate glaze for a unique twist.
- Add orange zest to the dough for a citrusy twist.
- Churros are best fresh. Store unglazed leftovers in an airtight container for 1 day and reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes.
