Description

A quick and flavorful Garlic Soy Chicken Stir-Fry featuring tender chicken, sweet carrots, and savory onions, perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 medium carrots, julienned or thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup water or chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix chicken with soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add marinated chicken and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until cooked through and lightly browned. Remove from pan and set aside.
  4. Add remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan. Sauté garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add onions and carrots and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until tender-crisp.
  6. Return the cooked chicken to the pan and pour in water or broth. Stir-fry everything together for another 2 minutes.
  7. Season with salt, pepper, and sesame oil if using. Mix well to combine.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt content.
  • Add bell peppers or snap peas for extra veggies.
  • Substitute chicken with tofu for a vegetarian option.
  • Adjust sauce quantities to suit your taste preferences.
