Scale
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp:
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Cook the Shrimp:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Garlic Butter Sauce:
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant (don’t let it burn).
- Stir in the red pepper flakes, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Cook for 30 seconds.
- Combine and Garnish:
- Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and toss again.
- Serve:
- Serve immediately with crusty bread, over pasta, or with steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine to the sauce before adding the shrimp.
- Substitute parsley with cilantro or basil for a different flavor profile.
- To make it dairy-free, use vegan butter.
