Description

This Garlic Butter Chicken is a quick, flavorful, and comforting dish perfect for weeknight dinners. Tender chicken breasts are seared to golden perfection and coated in a rich, garlicky butter sauce infused with herbs. Serve it with rice, pasta, or crusty bread to soak up every drop of the buttery goodness!

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or white wine for extra flavor)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (or a mix of dried thyme, oregano, and basil)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, for a bright flavor boost)

Instructions

. Season and prepare the chicken:

  • Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and paprika (if using).

2. Sear the chicken:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and sear for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C). Remove the chicken and set aside.

3. Make the garlic butter sauce:

  • In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the chicken broth (or white wine) and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Stir in the Italian seasoning. Simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.

4. Combine and serve:

  • Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the garlic butter sauce over the top. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to reheat the chicken and let it absorb the flavors.
  • Finish with a squeeze of lemon juice and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add a splash of heavy cream to the garlic butter sauce.
  • This dish pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or pasta.
  • If using chicken thighs instead of breasts, adjust the cooking time as needed since they may take slightly longer.
