Description

Fig and Ricotta Stuffed Pastry Roll is a delicate, flaky dessert or brunch pastry filled with creamy ricotta cheese and sweet fig preserves, wrapped in golden puff pastry. A refined treat with Mediterranean flair.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 3/4 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup fig preserves or fig jam
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with honey and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Spread the ricotta mixture evenly over the center third of the pastry sheet.
  5. Spoon fig preserves over the ricotta layer.
  6. Fold the sides of the pastry over the filling, overlapping slightly. Pinch the seams to seal and tuck the ends underneath.
  7. Place the roll seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Brush the top with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  10. Let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and slicing to serve.

Notes

  • You can use fresh figs in place of preserves when in season.
  • Add chopped nuts like walnuts or pistachios for extra texture.
  • This pastry can be served warm or at room temperature.
  • Perfect with tea or coffee as a sweet snack or brunch treat.
