Description

A comforting and flavorful homemade wonton soup with juicy dumplings in a light, aromatic broth.

For the Wontons:

  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped shrimp (optional)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 20 wonton wrappers

For the Broth:

  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions

Instructions

  • Prepare the Wontons: Mix pork, shrimp, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and green onions. Spoon a small amount into each wonton wrapper, fold, and seal with water.
  • Cook the Wontons: Boil water and cook wontons for 3-4 minutes until they float.
  • Prepare the Broth: Heat chicken broth, soy sauce, sesame oil, white pepper, and sugar in a pot.
  • Assemble the Soup: Add cooked wontons to the broth, garnish with green onions, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Substitute pork with chicken for a lighter version.
  • Add bok choy or mushrooms for extra flavor.
