- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 4 slices American or cheddar cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- 2 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp mustard
- Lettuce, tomato, pickles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
- Divide ground beef into 8 equal portions and form into thin patties.
- Season patties with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Cook each patty for 2-3 minutes per side, adding cheese on top of 4 patties during the last minute.
- Stack a cheese-topped patty over a plain patty to form double layers.
- Butter and toast hamburger buns until golden.
- Spread mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard on buns.
