- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Vanilla ice cream, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 6- or 8-inch oven-safe skillet or baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually stir dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared skillet or dish.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is just set but still soft.
- Let cool for 5–10 minutes before topping with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and serving warm.
Notes
- Don’t overbake if you want a gooey center.
- You can substitute chocolate chips with chunks or mix in white/milk chocolate for variety.
- Serve directly from the skillet for a rustic presentation.
