Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound chicken wing portions
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place a wire rack on top of a rimmed baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Prepare the Chicken Wings:
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, which helps them crisp up.
- Coat with Olive Oil:
- In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with olive oil until well-coated.
- Make the Dry Rub:
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, ground mustard, paprika, salt, chili powder, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Season the Wings:
- Sprinkle the dry rub evenly over the wings and toss until they’re fully coated.
- Bake the Wings:
- Arrange the wings on the wire rack, skin side up, to allow air circulation for extra crispiness.
- Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven.
- Flip and Finish Baking:
- Flip the wings and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- Serve:
- Serve the crispy wings hot with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping. Enjoy!
Notes
- For even crispier wings, broil them for the last 2–3 minutes of cooking, but keep a close eye to avoid burning.
- Feel free to double the dry rub recipe for a larger batch.
- For a spicier kick, add extra red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the dry rub.
