Description

These crispy oven-baked chicken wings are seasoned to perfection with a savory dry rub. Easy to make and loaded with flavor, they’re the perfect snack or appetizer for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound chicken wing portions
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Place a wire rack on top of a rimmed baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Chicken Wings:
    • Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, which helps them crisp up.
  3. Coat with Olive Oil:
    • In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with olive oil until well-coated.
  4. Make the Dry Rub:
    • In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, ground mustard, paprika, salt, chili powder, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  5. Season the Wings:
    • Sprinkle the dry rub evenly over the wings and toss until they’re fully coated.
  6. Bake the Wings:
    • Arrange the wings on the wire rack, skin side up, to allow air circulation for extra crispiness.
    • Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven.
  7. Flip and Finish Baking:
    • Flip the wings and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  8. Serve:
    • Serve the crispy wings hot with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For even crispier wings, broil them for the last 2–3 minutes of cooking, but keep a close eye to avoid burning.
  • Feel free to double the dry rub recipe for a larger batch.
  • For a spicier kick, add extra red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the dry rub.
