Description

Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken Bites are tender, juicy pieces of chicken coated in a crispy golden crust and tossed in a sweet, sticky honey garlic sauce. This dish is perfect as an appetizer, party food, or main course served with rice or noodles.

Ingredients

  • chicken breast or thigh pieces
  • flour
  • cornstarch
  • egg
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • honey
  • soy sauce
  • garlic, minced
  • butter or oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Season chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. Coat chicken pieces in a mixture of flour and cornstarch. Dip in beaten egg, then coat again in the flour mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet. Fry chicken until golden and crispy on all sides. Drain on paper towels.
  4. In a small saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic. Stir in honey and soy sauce. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  5. Toss crispy chicken bites in sauce just before serving.

Notes

  • Add red chili flakes for heat.
  • Use maple syrup instead of honey for a different twist.
  • Try air frying the chicken for a lighter option.
  • Best served fresh. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in an oven or air fryer to retain crispness.
  • For baking, cook at 400°F (200°C) until golden and cooked through.
  • Chicken thighs are juicier, while chicken breasts are leaner, so choose based on preference.
  • Fry the chicken and make the sauce separately; combine before serving to keep the chicken crispy.
  • To ensure the chicken stays crispy, don’t toss in the sauce until just before serving.
  • Frozen chicken can be used, but make sure it is thawed completely before cooking.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free flour and tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Cooked chicken freezes well, but the sauce should be made fresh.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added flavor.
  • If you want a thicker sauce, simmer it longer or add a cornstarch slurry.
  • Serve with rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
