Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon water + 1 teaspoon cornstarch (for slurry)
- Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
- Set up a dredging station with flour and cornstarch mixed in one bowl and beaten eggs in another.
- Dip chicken pieces into the egg, then coat with the flour-cornstarch mixture. Set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3–4 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Mix cornstarch and water to make a slurry, then stir into the sauce. Cook for 1–2 minutes until thickened.
- Toss the fried chicken bites in the honey garlic sauce until evenly coated.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve immediately as is or over rice.
Notes
- Double fry the chicken for extra crispiness.
- You can prepare the sauce ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Try air frying the chicken bites for a lighter version.
- Serve with steamed broccoli or stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.
