Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cornstarch or all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • 3 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • 2 tbsp chopped scallions, for garnish
  • Dipping sauce (sweet chili, garlic mayo, or soy-based)

Instructions

  1. Season shrimp with salt and pepper.
  2. Dredge each shrimp in cornstarch or flour, dip in beaten egg, then coat again in flour.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry shrimp in batches until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and chili flakes. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  5. Toss the fried shrimp in the glaze until well coated.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallions.
  7. Serve hot with your preferred dipping sauce.
