Description

Crispy Fried Potatoes and Mushrooms is a hearty, flavorful dish of golden potato slices and sautéed mushrooms, perfectly seasoned and served with a creamy dipping sauce. A comforting side or satisfying vegetarian snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 34 medium Yukon gold or red potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh mushrooms (button, cremini, or portobello), sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 23 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika or chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sour cream or garlic dip (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Wash and thinly slice the potatoes. Pat dry thoroughly with paper towels.
  2. Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add potato slices in a single layer and fry until golden and crispy, about 4–5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté mushrooms until browned and tender, about 5–6 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Return fried potatoes to the skillet with mushrooms. Season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  6. Toss gently to combine and heat through.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot with a side of dip.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add caramelized onions or crispy bacon.
  • Use sweet potatoes as a variation.
  • Reheat in a skillet or oven to maintain crispiness.
  • Try different herbs like rosemary or thyme for variety.
  • Top with grated parmesan for a cheesy twist.
