Crispy Bang Bang Shrimp features tender shrimp coated in a crunchy breading and tossed in a sweet, spicy, and creamy Bang Bang sauce. It’s a perfect appetizer or light meal with bold flavors and a satisfying texture.

- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 green onion, chopped (optional garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix buttermilk with shrimp and marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Remove shrimp from the buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture, pressing to coat well.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry shrimp in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey to make the sauce.
- Toss fried shrimp with the Bang Bang sauce until well coated.
- Garnish with chopped green onion if desired and serve immediately.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of sriracha for more or less heat.
- Serve over rice or in lettuce wraps for a complete meal.
- Shrimp can also be air-fried for a healthier version.
