Description

Crispy Bang Bang Shrimp features tender shrimp coated in a crunchy breading and tossed in a sweet, spicy, and creamy Bang Bang sauce. It’s a perfect appetizer or light meal with bold flavors and a satisfying texture.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 green onion, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix buttermilk with shrimp and marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Remove shrimp from the buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture, pressing to coat well.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry shrimp in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey to make the sauce.
  7. Toss fried shrimp with the Bang Bang sauce until well coated.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onion if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of sriracha for more or less heat.
  • Serve over rice or in lettuce wraps for a complete meal.
  • Shrimp can also be air-fried for a healthier version.
