- 12 oz pasta (penne or fettuccine)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes, add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until sauce is creamy and smooth.
- Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat well.
- Stir in the fresh basil just before serving and garnish with extra Parmesan if desired.
- Serve hot.
