- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 8 oz mushrooms (cremini, button, or mixed), sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh thyme (or 1/2 tsp dried)
- 1/4 cup white wine or broth (optional)
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add sliced mushrooms and sauté for 6–8 minutes until browned and tender.
- Stir in garlic and thyme; cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Optional: Add white wine or broth to deglaze the pan. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until reduced.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and pour in the heavy cream. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese if using, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Use a mix of mushrooms for a more complex flavor.
- High heat helps prevent watery mushrooms.
- Omit Parmesan for a lighter sauce or substitute with another cheese.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently with a splash of cream to maintain texture.
