Description

This Creamy Garlic Mushroom Chicken is a rich and flavorful dish featuring tender, seared chicken smothered in a creamy garlic parmesan mushroom sauce. Perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner, this dish pairs wonderfully with pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (halved to make 4 thin fillets)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 8 oz mushrooms (sliced)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken – Season the chicken fillets with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  • Sear the Chicken – Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • Sauté Mushrooms and Garlic – In the same skillet, melt butter and add mushrooms. Cook for 3-4 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  • Make the Sauce – Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, then add parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir until the sauce is smooth.
  • Combine and Simmer – Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, coating it in the sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve – Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Add spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor.
  • If the sauce is too thick, add a little more chicken broth to thin it out.
