Description

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • For the frosting:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients and milk alternately, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cake cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  9. To make frosting, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in cream, vanilla, and a pinch of salt until smooth and spreadable.
  10. Spread frosting evenly over cooled cake.
