- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- For topping:
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until well combined.
- Mix in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined—do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the loaf cool for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and place on a wire rack.
- Brush the top and sides with melted butter while still warm, then sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Swirl extra cinnamon sugar inside the batter for a layered effect.
- Add chopped apples or nuts for added texture and flavor.
- Drizzle with a glaze made from powdered sugar and milk for a different finish.
- The topping is best the day of baking but can be refreshed with more melted butter and sugar.
- Store wrapped tightly to preserve moisture and flavor.
