Description

These homemade Chocolate Drizzled Churros are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, dusted with cinnamon sugar, and topped with rich melted chocolate — a perfect sweet treat for any time of day! (keywords: chocolate churros, homemade churros recipe, fried dough dessert)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 tsp cinnamon (for coating)

  • 1/2 cup melted semi-sweet chocolate (for drizzling)

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, bring water, sugar, and butter to a boil.

  • Remove from heat and stir in the flour until a dough forms.

  • Allow the dough to cool slightly, then beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.

  • Transfer dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.

  • Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).

  • Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting with scissors, and fry until golden brown.

Notes

  • You can dip them directly into melted chocolate instead of just drizzling for an extra indulgent experience.

  • Best enjoyed fresh and warm!
